Glass Animals is three young men from South East London, that creates dark psyched out electro. The potential in this band, is already widely recognized by blogs and magazines. So we strongly recommend you to give their original tracks a listen. When it comes to todays mix, it's made by Dave Bayley, vocal, who have been dj'ing before the start of Glass Animals. The mix is very chill out and perfect for a Monday!

"Glass Animals - a monday mixtape for our friends Vogelspand.
Hey. So this is a mixtape. The idea wasn't to make people dance. I mean by all means do if you feel so inclined, but this isn't necessarily 'dance music.' Its more a collection of music I find interesting...Its a handful of songs I know and love, tied together into a thirty-minute string of sound.
1. Bonobo - Ketto
This bloke has been churning out incredible trip-hop for over a decade. If you want to close your eyes, pretend you're alone lounging cozily in a gelatin rainbow over a tropical island, bonobo is for you.
2. Mount Kimbie - Maybes
These guys are doing some magical things for the world of dubstep. They've just produced an epic remix for another band we have a lot of respect for, Foals.
3. Ratatat - Wildcat
Ratatat are too cool. They're getting lots of attention these days after doing a tune with MGMT and Kid Cudi...but the light should really be on their own records. Wildcat is such a classic.
4. Burial & Four Tet - Moth
Burial is beautiful. Four Tet is beautiful. They got intimate and made a couple musical babies, and as you'd expect...they're beautiful too. Here is one of them.
5. The XX vs. Florence and the Machine - You've Got the Love
We were compared to the XX a lot, so I had a listen to their stuff. Jamie XX knows how to lay down a beat. This remix is just so well crafted.
6. Burial - Archangel
So pretty. This is what sitting on top of a street lamp in south london at night would sound like if you could be invisible.
7. Radiohead - Idioteque
I've seen them live a couple times, and when they play this song, Thom Yorke looks like he's about to explode. With joy. I'm pretty sure this is one of his favourite radiohead songs...its definitely one of mine.
8. Joy Orbison - Hyph Mngo
Wonderful, clean production. Joy Orbison is on fire. Make sure you're wearing good-ish headphones or have speakers that can provide some bass for this one.
9. Benga - E Trips
Benga is a big, big influence. His drums are perfect. This is one to dance to!
10. Venetian Snares - Öngyilkos Vasárnap
The whole record this track is taken from (Rossz Csillag Allat Született) is just amazing(aside from the bit about pigeons...). Hard to define the genre...maybe 'classical breakcore.'
11. Asura - Sleepers
I heard Asura do a mix for radio one's experimental show and became a bit of an addict. This track is unreleased, but asura was super nice and sent it to me all the way from LA...it'll be out soon on a 12" split with his labelmate Anenon (also worth checking out). Somehow this is scary, sad, and beautiful all at the same time...like monsters at war, simultaneously crying emerald tears.
12. Airhead - Paper Street

Last Sunday I played a couple of hours with chill-out at Søndagsskolen. I recorded the set, which became 1hour 40mins long, which is pretty long. Mixtape Mondays Volume 15:
The French producer duo Tuff Wheelz was formed in 2007. Despite the duo's short existence, they possess great experience. As they both have been dj'ing since mid 90's and played alongside names like DJ Funk, Modeselektor, Para One, Surkin and Yuksek, they are not new on the dj-scene in french. Tuff Wheelz produces house tunes in very different variations, like tech-house, afro-house and fidge-house. Already having a few releases out and more to come, Tuff Wheelz seems to a really great 2010 ahead of them.

We asked Tuff Wheelz to participate with a mixtape, because we've heard a couple of their elder mixes, and really enjoyed them. That of course set our expectations a bit up, but Tuff Wheelz have more than surpassed our expectations. What a lovely house mix! This is just a fantastic soundtrack for a Monday!

Friday we host yet a Kids On Glue party (event) with Norm D at our highly loved bar, Ritz. Last time we had a Dum & Drunk Edition with 7inch battle, which set a new standard for savagery at Ritz!! This time, we blow of 1 hour of shitty music from the 90's and other province crap -> read Scooter, ATB, Bomfunks MC, 2 Unlimited, Take That etc. Just check out the event-wall. As we try to diversify the mixtapes as much as possible and with it, explore other fields, than we normally work with, we have decided to make a month with more electronica oriented artists. We hope and believe, this will make our Mixtape Mondays even more interesting for you as a listener!

To start of with, we have Copenhagen based Det Sejler I Effekter (english translation: Awash In Effects), a band consisting of Kee Fritchards/Jdreng, Daniel Sarstedt and Tummy Dob. As their name suggests, these men experiment a lot with effects, but like another Four Tet, they master it with perfection. What a sound universe. Their electronica dub music (with a twist of dubstep) is a delight to the ear for both the inattentive listener, but especially for the discerning and attentive listener. Our recommendation is to give this Mixtape Mondays mix a careful listen when the time and surroundings for relaxation is present, to get the full benefit. Peter N aka Peter Nørgaard is an unknown and overlooked danish producer. Thou we have known this guy for years know, we have sinned by not following his development. We are sorry Peter!
What brought us back on Peter's track, was his disco remix of Radioheads Reckoner. What a piece of work! Smooth and beautiful disco = 110% big love from Vogelspand!! We also got other Peter N stuff.. a electronica version/edit of Bjørk's I've Seen It All and a more techy and punching edit of awful Lady Gaga's Love Game. Enjoy these tasteful remixes! Eat More Cake is back with yet a release after their Red Sky release late last year (get it here). Red Sky was pure and catchy disco, which really caught our attention. This time Eat More Cake are going in another direction, thou still by holding bites of their sound. The new release Fear No Evil sounds like The Streets, only with a more dreamy disco touch. Even the lyrics reminds us of The Streets.. But it doesn't make the track worse, because its really great.! what do you think?

In "Fear No Evil" the band's easy-flowing mixture of electronica, hip-hop and indie underpin a thesis on the illusions of childhood, urging the listener to embrace the truth and seek happiness in the real world, whatever it's short-comings. The original mix is driven by an infectious blues-guitar loop and hand percussion whilst Choking Dolphin takes a more dreamy, electronica, synth-lead approach. The Steviebeatbox remix sees the vocals delivered over a bouncy Hip-hop beat and what feels like a slightly more optimistic chord progression.

Kid Cola is surely a name which we have kept our eyes on, and the more he have produced, the more we have felt in love with his sound. Today we can announce two great things regarding Kid Cola. We are honored that The Subs will contribute a mix for Mixtape Mondays. These guys have been favorites for years now, so we are more than happy that we have been able to be in contact with them. The Subs consist of three crunk experienced men - Jeroen (singer), Wiebe(dj) and Stefan(dj). Mixtape Mondays Volume 5:

Canadian Neon Steve have been on our dear blog a couple of times, with some really great funky disco and dubstep. His remix of Phoenix's "1901" was a major one, which received very good response and went straight to the top of hypem. After that, we kept in touch with him and checked further on him (check this post). Checking his "Do Not Bleach vol.1.5" mix, we found that Neon Steve possess some really good dj-skills, when it comes to handling 12inches. So of course we invited him to Mixtape Mondays and he didn't hesitate to say yes. The mix he made for us, is his first recorded mix using Serato Scratch, before then he was only on old-skool vinyl. We have been very excited about this mix, because it sooo fucking rocks!! Go have yourself a good week with it. Enjoy!
